Cagecraze.com was live at the Kokomo Event Center for an exciting night of fights. Mark Slater puts on a great show and Saturday’s Colosseum Combat XVII was yet another stacked Pro-Am fight card. The crowd was buzzing with excitement all night long as they saw some thrilling battles. On the card are Colosseum Combat veterans Clint Maclin, Cornelius George, Cage Craze’s own Matthew “the Carebear” Perry, Ryan Mcintosh, Josh Kinser, Strikeforce vet Gerric Hayes, and TUF veteran Daniel Head along with many other battle-tested martial artists.
Amateur Bouts
Robert Duke vs. Travis Cottrell:
Duke gets an early takedown to start the fight and quickly begins throwing leather at Cottrell. Duke works into the mount position and from there he unloads heavy bombs while maintaining his position. His shots are consistent and heavy; eventually the referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Robert Duke wins at 1:56 of round 1 due to TKO from referee stoppage due to strikes.
Ryan Hooten vs. Jacob Hurlock:
Hurlock goes for a quick takedown but Hooten easily stuffs the telegraphed shot and puts Hurlock into the cage. Hooten throws a knee to the body and gets a takedown of his own. Hurlock works for a kimura that is unsuccessful. Hurlock then throws his legs up for a triangle and locks it in deep forcing the tap. Jacob Hurlock wins via triangle submission at 1:57 in the first round.
Fight of the Night!
Atsuhiro Takano vs. Caleb Williams:
The crowd was treated to a show in the third amateur bout between Atsuhiro “The Japanese Zombie” Takano and Caleb Williams from Coconut Creek, Florida. Both fighters start out aggressively with Takano landing two high kicks. Williams drops Takano momentarily after a huge right hand. Williams then scoops up Takano and delivers a massive slam that gets the crowd roaring. They both exchange kneebar attempts which end in both being back to their feet. Takano goes for a flying armbar against the cage that is unsuccessful. Takano with a takedown and is met with an armbar attempt but defends well against Williams. Takano lands several unanswered shots until he is met with an upkick to the face by Williams. Takano finishes the round with more punches and hammerfists to end a close opening round. Takano starts off the second round with a front kick that lands but Williams capitalizes with a takedown. Once the fighters get back on their feet, Williams drops Takano with some huge punches. Takano is relentless and is back on his feet in a clinch against the cage. He throws some knees to the legs and completes the takedown. Takano is met once again with a vicious upkick to the face. Takano lets Williams up and narrowly misses with a head kick. Takano connects with consecutive left, right combinations that land. Williams gets a big takedown to finish another very close round. The crowd is incredibly entertained for this fight and the two fighters ask for more noise as they know it’s a battle. Williams opens up with a high kick that is blocked. Both fighters find their mark on combinations early on. Williams gets a takedown and begins his ground and pound. Takano’s hips are active but he eats a multitude of unanswered hammerfists. Williams lets Takano up and delivers a hard body kick. Takano gets a takedown and goes for a heel hook but is swept and ends up on his back. Incredible action and competitiveness by both fighters in this bout. Caleb Williams wins via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 30-27).
Jordan Crider vs. Clint Maclin:
In the final amateur contest of the evening two undefeated veterans took to the cage as Jordan Crider (5-0) took on fan favorite Clint “the Mule” Maclin (7-0). The fight begins with Crider unintentionally catching Maclin with a low blow on a leg kick. The bout resumes and Maclin lands with an outside leg kick. Crider answers with an outside leg kick followed by and inside leg kick to Maclin’s thigh. Crider catches Maclin’s kick and uses it to secure a takedown. Maclin puts his leg across the back of Crider to set up a perfectly executed kimura that forces Crider to tap. Clint “the Mule” Maclin wins via kimura at 1:16 of round one.
Pro Bouts:
Mark Neville vs. Matthew Perry:
The first professional bout of the evening featured cage veteran Mark Neville and CageCraze’s own Matthew “the Carebear” Perry making his pro debut. Both fighters feel each other out on the feet to start the fight. They clinch against the cage and Neville lands a big right hand but Perry is able to take him to the mat. Perry connects with two big rights of his own to Neville. Neville up kicks Perry while he is on the ground causing a break in the action with no point deduction for the unintentional, illegal strike. The referee gives them their positions back and immediately Neville goes for an armbar. Perry escapes and gets a takedown transitioning swiftly to take Neville’s back. Perry sets up the rear naked with big punches and then sinks in the choke forcing Neville to tap. Matthew “the Carebear” Perry wins his pro debut at 1:52 of round 1 due to a rear naked choke.
Henry Goonen vs. Ryan Mcintosh:
Next up was a grudge match- winner take all fight between Henry Goonen making his pro debut against Colosseum Combat veteran Ryan “Machinegun” Mcintosh. Mcintosh starts things out aggressively with a missed head kick followed by a punch combination which lands. Mcintosh lands a front kick followed by a stiff jab. Mcintosh gets Goonen down and swarms in throwing heavy leather forcing the referee to end the bout. Ryan “Machinegun” Mcintosh wins via TKO at: 43 into round 1.
Tim Duncan vs. Ed Carpenter:
The next pro fight pitted Tim “Timmy D” Duncan (1-1) against Ed Carpenter (4-1) in a 230lb catch weight bout. Duncan lands a few leg kicks early to Carpenter. Carpenter looks for a takedown and is forced down by Duncan as he attempts to finish with a guillotine. Carpenter takes advantage and pounds Duncan with short punches from side mount. Carpenter is relentless with hammerfists and smothers Duncan keeping him on his back. Carpenter with more hard punches this time from back mount followed by short left elbows. A continuous onslaught by Carpenter as he is utilizing his ground and pound and wrestling to control the fight. More elbows and punches but Duncan isn’t giving up. Carpenter attempts a rear naked as the bell sounds. Carpenter landed nearly 70 strikes in the round. The second round begins with both landing their share of leg kicks and punch combos. Carpenter nails Duncan with two stiff jabs. Carpenter with a quick single leg takedown and begins his ground and pound. Carpenter with alternating body and head blows along with knees to the body. Duncan answers with elbows from the bottom. Carpenter looks for a head and arm choke but Duncan defends it well. Carpenter finishes the round with four big shots to Duncan. The final round starts with Duncan as the aggressor working his leg kicks and landing with his jab. Duncan lands a right, left combo. Carpenter slips a punch and shoots in for and gets a takedown. Carpenter with a barrage of punches forces the referee to stop the fight. Great sportsmanship and heart from both fighters. Ed Carpenter wins via TKO stoppage due to strikes at 1:23 of round 3.
Luke Taylor vs. Michael Eikenberry:
Eikenberry opens up with a quick leg kick but is taken down by Taylor. Both work punches on the ground and Eikenberry reverses to get back on top. They have a stalemate on the ground battling for position and the fight is back to the feet. Taylor lands a right hook and they clinch against the cage. Eikenberry gets Taylor down and takes his back. Both fighters get back to their feet with Taylor landing a jab followed by a kick as Eikenberry simultaneously throws a kick. Taylor uses this for a takedown and works some short ground and pound. Eikenberry looks for a triangle and then an armbar transition from the missed triangle. Eikenberry is active but Taylor defends well to end a close first round. Taylor starts off round two landing a left and right hook and they clinch against the cage. Eikenberry slips and Taylor is on top. Eikenberry looks for a kimura and locks it up but Taylor is able to escape. Taylor works punches and a left elbow to Eikenberry. Taylor comes with more hard shots to the face and even more to the body. Eikenberry works another kimura but Taylor once again defends and finishes the round with a flurry of punches. Eikenberry is slow to get up after that flurry. The referee stops the bout due to Eikenberry being unable to answer the bell. Luke Taylor wins by TKO (doctor stoppage) opponent unable to answer the bell at 5:00 at round 2.
K.O. of the Night
Keith Jasmantas vs. Josh Kinser:
Jasmantas opens up with an early kick. Jasmantas moves in aggressively dropping Kinser with a strong left hand and finishes him with a barrage of punches. Keith Jasmantas wins via KO at: 13 of round 1.
Gerric Hayes vs. Daniel Head:
Both fighters are amped for this bout and the crowd is excited at the anticipation as Strikeforce vet Gerric Hayes (7-7) faces off against fan favorite and TUF vet Daniel Head (10-4). Head opens up with a kick and eats a jab from Hayes. Hayes lands a leg kick followed by a spinning backfist. Head works for a takedown and eats big uppercuts as he completes it. Both battle for better positions on the ground with Head pushing Hayes against the cage. Head lands short elbows and punches before Hayes sweeps and gets back to his feet. Head lands a right and misses with a spinning back kick. Head gets another takedown and begins working more short elbows and punches to finish the round. The second round begins with both landing jabs. Head eats a right hand then lands a switch high kick to the body. Head with a nice trip and takedown into side mount. Head working shots to the body and traps Hayes’ arm following with hard elbows. Head passes to mount and transitions to the back reigning heavy shots to Hayes. He goes for the rear naked but switches back to the mount. Hayes reverses and ends up on top. Head goes for an armbar but it’s defended well. Head reclaims the mount and alternates body and head punches. Head sets up and finishes an incredible armbar forcing Hayes to tap. Exciting and competitive fight from both vets. Daniel Head wins via armbar submission at 4:04 in the second round.
Main Event:

Brandon Bolt vs. Justin Allen:
The first round begins with Bolt getting a quick takedown but Allen is right back to his feet. Bolt works hard shots and knees in the clinch along with some nasty foot stomps. Bolt picks up Allen and slams him with thunderous force as the crowd reacts in amazement. The slam was deemed an illegal head spike, therefore a point was deducted from Bolt but the fight continues after several minutes to allow Allen the needed time to recover. The fighters touch gloves and Allen connects with a hard leg kick. He misses with a high kick but connect with a spinning high kick to the face of Bolt. Bolt gets Allen down but Allen reverses and the fighters stand back to their feet with Allen in back control with Bolt standing. They clinch against the cage with Bolt landing more foot stomps and knees. Both are exchanging and back to the center. Allen throws two high kicks that land but Bolt is blocking well. Allen connects with a leg kick followed by a right hand. Allen lands a right uppercut that drops Bolt. Allen takes his back and Bolt hits Allen with shots while his back is taken. Allen jumps on Bolt’s back as he attempts to stand back up and sinks in the standing rear naked choke. They fall to the mat with Allen forcing the tap due to a rear naked choke finish. An exciting, high energy fight by both warriors to cap off a great evening of cage fights at Colosseum Combat XVII. Justin “the Body Snatcher” Allen wins by rear naked choke submission at 4:04 in round 1.
