Cagecraze.com was live Saturday night at the Porter County Event Center for Hoosier Fight Club 9: Fall Brawl.  This action packed card lived up to its expectations as HFC yet again puts on another great show.  UFC and Strikeforce veteran John Kolosci makes a triumphant return to the cage after extensive time off due to injury.  Up and comers Brady Hovermale and James Porter were put to the test with stiff competition but were able to find success in the later rounds to secure victory. TUF 11 finalist Kris McCray was also successful in pulling out the win in a close 3 round war with Kevin Nowaczyk. Checkout the play-by-play for all of the exciting action.

Giovanni Moljo vs.  Josh Robinson

Moljo opens up first with a mix of leg and front kicks.  Robinson looks to work some kicks as well but is unable to find his mark.  Moljo pressures Robinson into the cage with a one-two combo and a flying knee.  Both Fighters work for position against the cage before separating after a failed takedown from Robinson.  Moljo is able to get a takedown but cannot hold Robinson down.  Fighters return to their feet where Moljo continues to get the better of the combinations and is able to get another takedown against the cage.  Robinson is able to make it back to his feet shortly before the end of the round.  Round 2 starts with Moljo coming in aggressive and teeing off against Robinson against the fence before Robinson is able to return fire and back Moljo up.   Moljo is deducted one point for continuously taking out his mouthpiece.  Robinson continues to pressure Moljo but can’t seem to find the right distance.  Robinson is able to take advantage of a slip by Moljo and take his back before the end of the round. The final round begins with Moljo continuing to find his range before Robinson and getting the better of exchanges before landing a flying knee as Robinson falls into the cage.  Moljo is able to follow the knee up with a successful takedown but is unable to advance and ref Dave Stone returns them to their feet. After a failed takedown attempt Moljo motions to give his mouthpiece to the ref who steps in to end the bout.  Josh Robinson wins via referee stoppage at 2:20 in round 3.

 

Ryan McIntosh vs Terry House

McIntosh comes out swinging, connects with a left hook and a front kick to the face of House and follows it up with a few more hooks before House falls forward after being rocked.  McIntosh jumps to his back and locks in the rear naked choke.  House refuses to tap and goes to sleep.  Ryan McIntosh wins via technical submission (rear naked choke) at 0:20 of round 1.

Love lands first with a rear leg low kick. As both fighters are timid to throw.  Love lands another hard leg kick that forces Golden to look for the takedown. Love stuffs it and jumps to a Peruvian necktie but cannot finish the choke.  Love works for different guillotine attempts before standing and creating space.  Golden is able to get a takedown and work a little ground and pound before the end of the round.  Round 2  begins with Love pressing the action and landing a right hand which Golden returns with a takedown and works through side control and north south before trying to take the back of love but is unsuccessful.  Love is able to turn into Goldens guard.  After some inactivity they are returned to their feet.  Love continues to find success with his leg kicks.  Golden shoots low and gets another takedown before the end of round 2.  The 3rd round begins with Love finding a body shot and another leg kick before stuffing a shot from Golden.  Love is able to land a left hook and right uppercut combo before a couple more shots land.   Love stops numerous shot attempts from Golden who is bloodied up from the shots from Love.  Love ends the round with a couple of body punches before the final bell.  The judges score it a unanimous decision for David Love.  David Love wins via unanimous decision.

Nieto shoots in quickly but is met with a guillotine choke from Cajigas but he works his way free.  Cajigas looks for numerous sub attempts from his back but is unable to secure one.  Cajigas is able to work to his feet but not for long before Nieto returns him to the ground.   Nieto passes to side and looks for an armlock before Cajigas is able to sweep and momentarily mount Nieto.  Nieto scrambles to his feet but is met with a knee and a flurry of punches from Cajigas that stun Nieto as he seems out on his feet he is able to get a single leg takedown and mount Cajigas before the end of the round.  Round 2  begins with Cajigas finding his mark and landing at will with punches and kicks. Nieto is able to get a takedown where he lands some ground and pound from within Cajigas’ guard.   Cajigas pushes away to his feet but Nieto shoots in and picks him up for a slam.  Nieto passes to mount, lands some punches that force Cajigas to roll and in the process Nieto locks up an armbar and extends his hips to force Cajigas to tap.  Robbie Nieto wins via submission (arm bar) 4:39 of round 2.

Hovermale is first to land with a leg kick followed by a left head kick.  Wayne catches a kick and takes Hovermale down for a moment.  They return to their feet where Wayne is starting to find his rythym and uses his head movement to avoid a majority of the punches from Hovermale.  They clinch and battle for position against the cage.  Wayne is able to change his level and lock his hands to complete a double leg takedown.  Wayne is able to pass guard but cannot maintain top control and is rolled by Hovermale. From side control Hovermale is able to mount Wayne and immediately swings over to an armbar but runs out of time before he can find the leverage to finish the submission.  Round 2 begins with both fighters squaring up and throwing hard to which neither land cleanly.  Wayne presses Hovermale into the cage again and secures a takedown.  Wayne backs up to let Hovermale stand up.  Hovermale takes advantage of the gesture and shoots in and takes Wayne down into the cage.  Wayne transitions from a triangle attempt to an omaplata but Hovermale is able to pass the attempt and scramble to the back.  Hovermale secures a rear naked choke and after a bit of a struggle finds the tap soon after.  Brady Hovermale wins via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:28 of round 2.

Kraus shoots in and is able to get a sweep single which he uses to pass into side control.  Johnson is able to regaurd and standup against the cage.  Johnson is unable to work off the fence and is taken down again by Kraus with a double leg slam takedown.  Kraus works small shots from with Johnson’s guard as he defends triangle attempts from the bottom.  Kraus is able to pass the guard momentarily before the end of the round. Round 2 beings with Johnson nearly missing a head kick and Kraus using the near miss as a takedown winding up in a triangle.  After a valiant attempt by Johnson to finish the triangle Kraus is able to escape and nearly takes the back of Johnson.  Both fighters return to their feet in the scramble of action but Kraus quickly shoots in after a two punch combo and takes Johnson down again.  The ref stands them up after some inactivity.  The round ends with Kraus under Johnson after a failed takedown attempt.  Round 3 starts with both fighters looking worn and tired.  The trade punches with Kraus getting the better before he shoots in for yet another takedown.  Kraus escapes yet another triangle attempt and is eventually able to pass the guard after some upkick attempts from Johnson.  Kraus pulls guard with a guillotine and rolls into mount but is unable to maintain the position and is put back into guard.  They are stood back up with 10 seconds left but neither is able to land significant strikes before the final bell.  The judges score it a unanimous decision for Nick Kraus.  Nick Kraus wins via unanimous decision.

 

Dan Bolden vs. John Kolosci

Bolden presses the action as both fighters exchange right hands.  Kolosci gets the takedown against the fence as Bolden looks to lock up a kimura from bottom.  Much of the round is spent in this position but Kolosci is able to escape the kimura and pass to mount before the bell.  Round 2 starts with Bolden controlling the center and landing a nice side kick before being pressured into the cage by Kolosci.  Bolden is able to land some elbows as he disengages and follows it up with some hard punches that land as Kolosci leans away.  Bolden shoots in for a takedown and is successful against the cage although he was seeing success on his feet aswell.  Bolden sits back for a leglock and winds up fishing for a heel hook but cannot finish the submission, Kolosci is able to scramble and pass Boldens guard to the full mount in the process but is unable to do much before the end of the round.  Round 3 begins with both fighters throwing heavy left hooks Boldens sends Kolosci slipping backwards.  Kolosci takes Bolden down against the cage and transitions to mount once again.  Bolden escapes but gives up his back in a scramble but is able to escape once Kolosci transitions to an arm triangle.  Bolden lands a right hand on the feet but is clinched up by Kolosci.  With ten seconds left in the round both fighters stand their ground and throw for the fences till the final bell.  The judges score it 29-28 Kolosci 29-28 Bolden, 29-28 Kolosci for a split decision for John Kolosci.  John Kolosci wins via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

 

Co-Main Event

James Porter vs. Jake Rosenbaum

Rosenbaum looks to explode early and controls the center of the cage.  Rosenbaum takes a knee from the thai clinch of Porter before taking him to the ground.  Rosenbaum works small body shots from within the guard of Porter.  The fight returns to the feet after inactivity on the ground.  Rosenbaum unloads a three punch combo that backs Porter into the cage and then takes him down before the end of the first round.  Round 2 begins with Rosenbaum coming out aggressive but catchs a hook from Porter on the way in.  Porter follows the hook with a double leg takedown taking Rosenbaum down against the cage.  Rosenbaum is able to lock up a triangle and soften Porter up with some elbows but Porter is able to escape after a very long struggle and momentarily mount Rosenbaum before being put back into guard as the round closes.  Round 3 opens with Porter employing some teap kicks to the lower leg of Rosenbaum.  Rosenbaum comes in aggressive but is met with a takedown from Porter.  Porter is relentless in his guard passing attempts and eventually passes to side control where he lands a few elbows that open up a cut around the left eye of Rosenbaum.  After a scramble Rosenbaum winds up in the guard of Porter but with not enough time to do much before the final bell.  The judges score the fight 29-28 Porter, 29-28 Rosenbaum, 29-28 Porter for a split decision.  James Porter wins a split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

 

Main Event:

Kris McCray vs. Kevin Nowaczyk

McCray lands first with a leg kick and pressures Nowaczyk against the cage looking for a takedown.  McCray works dirty boxing and knees to the thighs against the cage while Nowaczyk looks to pick his shots and work from the outside.  McCray finds a home for his right uppercut but still is unsuccessful with his takedown attempts.  The round concludes with McCray pressuring Nowaczyk into the fence into a clinch.  Round 2 starts with McCray more willing to exchange and lunges forward with his punches and controlling the center of the cage.  Nowaczyk is able to pick some shots but none of them phasing McCray much.  McCray returns fire with a good 4 punch combo followed by a body kick then pressures Nowaczyk into the cage once again but still cannot take him down.   McCray shoots in for a takedown again and presses Nowaczyk into the cage employing knees to his thighs.  They disengage for a moment before the end of the round.   The final round begins with Nowaczyk circling from the outside but still not landing the harder of the punches as McCray does as he backs him into the cage.  McCray does a good job mixing kicks at the end of his punch combinations which help him finally get a takedown but is unable to do much and is shortly stood up.  McCray continues to control the center and land the power punches while Nowaczyk lands his jab at will but nothing that stops McCrays forward pressure.  The manage to flurry together some combinations at the end of the round but nothing that stops either fighter.  The judges score the fight 30-27, 29-28×2 for a unanimous decision.  Kris McCray wins a unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).
