From Genesis: On the sixth day the Lord said, “Let there be fight!”

CageCraze.com was cageside Saturday night at the debut event of the Indiana Fighting Championship in Dale, Indiana, at the Dale City Community Center.  We witnessed the “Genesis” of a new breed of local MMA promotion that promises to give fighters a strong foundation to begin their MMA careers.

At the helm of the IFC is Kyria McBrayer-Christison, just the second female Mixed Martial Arts promoter in the state of Indiana. Kyria is also married to UFC veteran Dan Christison, but the IFC is not anchored on the gender or the spouse of the promoter, it is all about the fighters. We were very excited to be a part of this event, and we would like to thank Kyria and her team for allowing us to cover her first event. The hospitality shown to us, the judges, other media members, and the fighters was very refreshing. The consensus among attendees was that the IFC totally embraced the idea of community and created a family-friendly sports atmosphere. Please take a look below for the quick results from the event, and come back later for our insights and opinions on the event.

Jeremie Elkins def Brady King via TKO/RSC (strikes) at 1:41 in Rd.2

  • tKO of the Night – This was a rematch of a fight that occurred back in May 2011. Elkins defeated King in the first fight via submission (arm triangle choke) in the first round. Brady King stuck around longer in the second fight, and took it to Elkins early on. Elkins went for a guillotine several times in the fight but he just could not finish King with the submission, and according to Elkins, he held on to the choke too long and tired himself out. Elkins eventually gave up on the submission and stopped Brady King with strikes midway through the second round. Although this was not a true KO, we give the nod to Elkins because there is nothing like two Super Heavyweights slugging it out. CageCraze.com caught up with “Big Elk” after the event, please view the interview below.

Jacob Wright def Clayton Mundy via TKO/RSC (Mundy unable to continue) at 0:37 in Rd.3
