LFC 45 | Legends of Fighting Championship 45 “Line of Fire”
Cagecraze.com is live from the 8 Seconds Saloon in Indianapolis, Indiana for Legends Of Fighting Championship 45″LINE OF FIRE tonight for a great night of mixed martial arts action. Headlining the card are two time UFC and Shark Fights vet Johnny “the Hater Hurter” Rees going up against EliteXC and Bellator vet Robert “Bubba” McDaniel. Also featured on the card were local standouts Chris Price (UFC vet) and Matt Jaggers (Sengoku, Bellator veteran).
Amateur Bouts:
Jake Easter vs. Jonny Neville:
Easter walks through some punches early and landed one of his own on his way to a successful takedown attempts. Easter is able to pass to mount and is able to posture up and rain down some hard punches before applying a paper cutter choke to get the tap. Jake Easter wins via submission (paper cutter choke) at 1:56 in round one.
Ed Croom vs. Andre Billingsly :
Croom is first to land with a combo of straight punches. They trade position against the cage in a clinch before disengaging to land a few strikes. Billingsly is able to get a takedown against the fence and land some punches while he has Croom pressed against the cage. Croom is able to work his way back to his feet but is pressured to the fence as he stands. They are separated and Croom is able to land a flurry before the bell. Round two begins with Croom pressing the action but Billingsly is able to tie him up with a body lock and presses him into the cage once again. They battle for position and land short knees to each other’s thighs and the occasional uppercut before Billingsly shoots in and finishes a double leg takedown to end the round. Round three starts with Billingsly working into the clinch immediately and putting Croom back on the fence. Both fighters work short shots from the clinch before a knee from Billingsly finds its way accidently to the groin of Croom. After the break in action due to the incidental foul, the action is resumed and the clinch battle against the fence continues. The fight ends with Croom trying to finish a guillotine choke but is un-able to get the tap. The fight goes to the judges. The judges score it 29-28 unanimously for the winner Andre Billingsly.
Kevin Cousin vs. Brandon Hicks:
Cousin shoots in quickly and successfully takes Hicks to the ground and passes to mount where he lands a few hard punches that coax Hicks to give up his back. Cousin puts his hooks in and secures the rear naked choke after a brief struggle. Kevin Cousin wins via submission (rear naked choke) at 1:33 in the very first round.
Lloyd Thorton vs. Lamonte Dixon :
Dixon is first to clinch but is reversed against the cage. Thornton is able to complete a single leg takedown as Dixon tries for a guillotine choke. Dixon is able to reverse the position and winds up on top. They battle to maintain position until the end of the round. Round 2 begins with Dixon looking for a takedown but gives up his back in the process. Thorton is able to sink in the choke and get the tap. Lloyd Thorton wins via submission (rear naked choke) at 0:45 of the second round.
Brian Woods vs Kyle Crammer :
Crammer is first to land with a hard over hand right immediately into a clinch and double leg takedown in which he slams Woods to the mat. Crammer is able pass into mount but is unable to maintain the position long enough to land any strikes. They return to their feet shortly before Crammer lands a straight right hand that sends Woods to his back and is able to come in and finish the fight after the know down. Kyle Crammer wins via TKO at 2:03 of round 1.
Professional Bouts:
Jamey Scruggs vs. Joe Neace:
Scruggs is able to get a takedown early in the round after the fighters circle the cage. Neace is able to work his way to the feet and pin Scruggs against the cage where he throws some knees to the body of Scruggs but is they do not seem to affect him. Scruggs completes another takedown this time taking the back of Neace where he works to get his arm under Scruggs neck for the submission. Jamey Scruggs wins via submission (rear naked choke) at 2:58 into round one.
James Simon vs. Ron Carter:
Simon comes out eyeing the legs as a decoy as he throws a right hand over the top that catches Carter off guard. They close the distance and work against the cage before disengaging and swinging for the fences. Carter is able to get a takedown and slam Simon to the canvas, Simon scrambles to the feet but is met with a guillotine attempt from Carter. Carter pulls guard but is unable to hold on to the submission and Simon ends up in Carter’s guard. Simon lands some hard punches and forces Carter to turtle up momentarily. Carter is able to take Simon down once again after getting a low single leg on Simon. He then passes to mount where he locks up a mounted triangle after landing some clean punches from mount. Carter goes to his back to try and finish the submission but Simon is able to defend till the end of the round. Round two begins with both fighters looking noticeably gassed, and after a flurry against the cage Carter looks more so. Carter is able to land some hard knees and clean punches that stumbles Simon against the cage he keeps the pressure on and forces the ref to step in shortly after. Ron Carter wins via ref stoppage at 1:02 in round two.
Darnell Davis vs. Matt Wilson:
Davis comes out aggressive and unloads a fast combination on Wilson against the fence before shooting in for a quick takedown. Davis stacks Wilson against the fence from within his guard and lands some hard punches that force Wilson to give up position in order to get away from the punishment from Davis. The fighters return to the feet momentarily where Davis lands another hard right that sends Wilson back to the ground. Davis is able to force the ref to step in after Wilson takes too many unanswered blows. Darnell Davis wins via ref stoppage at 4:02 in round one.
Justin Ford vs. Mark Neville:
Neville looks to land a front kick early but is met with some hard leg kicks from Ford. Ford clinches Neville against the cage before setting up a nice hip toss. After the slam Ford is able to transition into mount Neville to give up his back with some punches. Ford lands some hard shots from rear mount that lead Neville to tapping. Ford wins via tapout due to strikes at 1:30 in round one.
Matt Jaggers vs. Bryan Neville:
Jaggers connects first with a stiff jab before taking a glancing knee from Neville that bloodies Jaggers nose. Neville swings but Jaggers evades as he shoots in for a takedown against the cage. Jaggers works some mean ground and pound from within the guard before passing into side control and eventually taking the back of Neville. Jaggers wastes no time before sinking in the rear naked choke and forcing Neville to tapout. Matt Jaggers wins via submission( rear naked choke) at 2:15 of round one.
Chris Price vs. Jerry Burns:
Price lands early and often with jabs and some knees from the thai clinch before forcing Burns to the ground. From side control Price works some hard elbows to the ribs and short punches to the head of Burns. Price softens Burns up with some elbows as he works to obtain a Kimura. Burns gives up his back and Price throws his legs over and sets up a beautiful armbar from the back. Price flattens Burns down and gets the tap. Chris Price wins via submission (armbar) at 3:34 in round one.
Johnny Rees vs. Bubba McDaniel:
McDaniel comes out swinging and catches Rees coming in that drops Rees momentarily and forces him to shoot in McDaniel is able to take Rees’ back and locks in a modified rear naked choke and chokes Rees unconscious. Bubba McDaniel wins via submission (rear naked choke) at 0:47 in round one.
