Cagecraze.com was cageside once again to bring you all the heavy hitting action at the 8 Seconds Saloon for Legends of Fighting Championships 49.  As LFC nears its 50th show the longest running Indianapolis promotion put on another great night of fights that featured 3 amateur title bouts and a female fight as well.

 Kathryn Gardiner vs Ashley Rickard

Gardiner finds early success finding her range and landing her jab at will.  After a flurry of jabs and crosses that go unblocked, Rickard shoots in for a takedown and is successful in doing so. Gardiner is able to regain guard but Rickard soon passes to half guard.  Gardiner is able to work to her knees and sweep Rickard but is caught in a tight guillotine and is forced to tap.  Ashley Rickard wins via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:50 of round 1.

Alan Buckley vs Chad Eaton

Both fighters square off and land hard blows to start the round off.  Buckley takes advantage of Eaton loading up and shoots for a takedown where he lands in side control. Buckley works the body with some small shots before setting up a guillotine. Alan Buckley wins via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:00 in round 1.

 

Dustin Vires vs Jermaine Ellis

Vires wastes no time in trying to take the fight to the ground but is met with quick peppering shots from Ellis.  Vires is able to get a single leg takedown against the cage and slam Ellis to the mat and immediately passes to mount.  From mount Vires is able to work an Americana but is unable to find the leverage he needs before being reversed into guard.  Ellis is able to work some body shots from within guard till the end of first round.
The second round begins with Vires shooting in for a single leg, after a struggle from Ellis he is able to complete the takedown.  Upon completion he moves directly to mount where he again looks for the Americana for the end of the round.  Round 3 begins with a failed takedown attempt from Vires, make that several failed takedown attempts until he is able to get him against the cage where the single leg gets the job done once again.  Vires is again able to pass immediately to mount but is unable to maintain position and is reversed into guard before the closing of the fight.  Dustin Vires wins via unanimous decision (30-27).

 

Cameron VanCamp vs Brad Woods

Vancamp is quick to get Woods to the ground but has to fend off some submission attempts in the process.  Vancamp works from halfguard and is able to land some hard punches to the head of Woods.  Woods is able to swing hips around and lock up an armbar and forces Vancamp to his back to try and escape.  VanCamp is able to hold on till the end of the round.  Round two begins with Woods connecting with a one-two combination into a body lock takedown.  Vancamp is able to reverse the position for a second but is eventually rolled from side control by Woods.  In a scramble Woods is able to take the back with a body triangle but gets too high to which Vancamp takes advantage and turns into Woods guard.  Vancamp is able to pass to mount for a moment before Woods scrambles out at the end of the round.  Round 3 begins with VanCamp ducking a looping shot from Woods and slamming him to the ground with a body lock takedown.  From the back Vancamp is able to lock in a rear naked choke and force Woods to tap.  Cameron VanCamp wins via submission( rear naked choke) at 0:40 into round 2.

 

135lb Title Fight Donald Wright vs Chad Wilson

Wilson is first to land with a crisp combo that encourages Wright to shoot in for a takedown.  Wilson is able to wind up on the back of Wright and locks up a body triangle with an arm trapped.  From the advantageous position he lands hard punches to the face of Wright before locking up a rear naked choke to which Wright cannot defend.  Chad Wilson wins via submission (rear naked choke) at 2:13 in round 1, and becomes the LFC Amateur 135lb Champion.

155lb Title Fight Joseph Lile vs Bryan Zeilinga

Lile is first to connect with his lightning fast jab and Zeilinga answers with a crisp combo.  Lile sees an opening and secures a single leg takedown.  Lile is unable to do much from guard and Zeilinga is able to stand up and work away from Lile.  Zeilinga lands a beautiful combination started off with a superman punch then a hook, right hand that drops Lile momentarily before he regains his composure and work to his feet before the close of the round. Round 2 begins with Zeilinga finding Lile’s chin again and drops him once again with a right hand.  Lile is quick to regain composure again and takes Zeilinga down before Zeilinga reverses the position.  Lile is able to lock up a deep guillotine and forces Zeilinga to sleep.  Joe Lile wins via submission( guillotine choke) at  1:42 of round 2, and wins the LFC 155lb Amateur Title.

205lb Title Fight Jeremy Baughman vs Nathaniel Rodriguez

Rod swings first with a wild left hook that misses but he connects with a hard front kick to the face and also to the groin of Baughman.  After a break in action Rodriquez connects with a hard left that shuts off Baughman as he falls face first after the KO blow.  Nathaniel Rodriquez wins via knockout at 0:37 in round 1 and becomes the LFC 205lb Amateur Champion.

Matt Lanning vs Anthony Jamison, II

Lanning looks to open up with a diverse kicking game but none of them land cleanly.  Jamison is able to land a few right hands from the outside and from the clinch.  Lanning drops for a double leg against the cage but is unsuccessful before catching a knee to the groin.  After the break Jamison comes out swinging but nothing landing cleanly.  Lanning continues to press Jamison into the fence without much success of a takedown.  Both fighters exchange knee’s from the clinch before disengaging.  Lanning lands a teap kick to the face before a crisp combo and some more knees from the thai clinch.  They end the round with a quick flurry and some more clinching against the cage.  Round 2 starts with Lanning landing more kicks before Jamison comes in and pressures him with a flurry of punches.  Both fighters are willing to trade punches and do so on several occasions while mixing in thai and Greco roman clinches against the cage. Lanning is able to get the first takedown of the fight with a double leg against the cage, and immediately moving to mount but is unable to take advantage of the position before the end of the round.  The third round Lanning opens up with a heavy leg kick attack while Jamison is sticking with his heavy punches in bunches.  Jamison starts to find his mark as Lanning seems to fade near the end of the round before Lanning is able to hold Jamison against the cage to end the fight.  Matt Lanning wins by unanimous decision (29-28). Sidenote: Matt Lanning received a broken jaw in the first round and continued to fight to a hard fought decision.

Shayne Henry vs Casey Large

Both fighters were unsuccessful with any leg strike they threw. Large attempts a takedown but winds up on the bottom. After a scramble Large ends up on top and goes for a guillotine and is successful in getting the tap.  Casey Large wins via submission (guillotine choke) at 1:35 in round 1.

 Rod Housley vs Ronald Carter

Carter lands an overhand but is greeted by a quick hook combo by Housley.  Housley rocks Carter with an uppercut from the clinch.  Carter is able to maintain his composure and work back to guard.  Housley is able to transition to mount then take the back of Carter before falling off the top.  Housley lands a hard knee to the body of the turtled up Carter.  Housley is able to smother Carter and land heavy punches and elbows that force the ref to call an end to the bout.  Rod Housley wins via referee stoppage due to strikes at 3:35 of round 1.

 

Tom Osborne vs Andrew Huffman

Huffman looks to counter from the outside and tags Osborne with a straight right.  Osborne lands some good leg kicks that Huffman doesn’t try to check.  Osborne catches a kick and looks for a leg lock but is unable to get the position needed, Huffman is able to transition to side control.  After some inactivity both fighters return to their feet before Huffman lands a right hand that hurts Osborne and another that sends him into the cage.  After some ground and pound the ref steps in to stop the fight with a second remaining. Andrew Huffman wins via referee stoppage due to strikes at 4:59 of round 1.

 

Keith Cunagin vs Jamey Scruggs

Scruggs immediately shoots in for a shot and picks him up but is unable to finish the takedown.  They separate to trade some punches with Scruggs getting the better of the shots.  Scruggs shoots in and is able to finish the takedown this time, pressing Cunagin into the cage.  Scruggs looks to take the back but can’t set his hooks and winds up in guard under Cunagin.  Cunagin is able to take the back and maintain mount as Scruggs turns but cannot stay on top to end the round.  Round 2 begins with Cunagin landing a right hand to which Scruggs returns the favor.  Cunagin is able to weather the onslaught of Scruggs and take him to the ground.  Cunagin is able to lock up an arm triangle and transition to side control to finish off the submission.  Keith Cunagin wins via submission (arm triangle choke) at 1:31 of round 2.
