LFC 50 | Legends of Fighting Championships 50

Legends of Fighting 50Cagecraze.com is live once again from the 8 Seconds Saloon in the circle city of Indianapolis for Legends of Fighting Championships 50.  This card is headlined by the return of LFC Veteran and Indianapolis native Johnny “The Hater Hurter” Rees as he takes on Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Jay Ellis at the catch weight of 180lbs.  In the Co-main event of the evening a bout between up and coming flyweights pits local favorite and TUF 14 competitor Casey Dyer against the explosive Ohio native Carson Gainey.  With 6 pro bouts and 7 amateur bouts LFC’s 50th show is on track to be one of it’s best to date. Matchmaker extraordinaire Mike Camp has yet again put on a stacked fight card for the enjoyment of our packed Indianapolis crowd.

Aaron Meadows vs Ben Ticen

Aaron Meadows vs Ben TicenMeadows is first to land but Ticen quickly becomes the aggressor controlling the action and finding a home for his wild hook that put Meadows on the defensive.  Ticen gets a takedown to mount but decides to standup and return to the feet.  Meadows shoots in but is stuffed and Ticen takes his back on puts in his hooks, he works for a choke but runs out of time in the round.  Round 2 begins with Ticen throwing his hooks without abandon again landing numerous times to the chin of Meadows.  Ticen ducks a looping shot from Meadows and takes his back.  Ticen transitions to an armbar but Meadows is able to defend till the bell.  Round 3 begins with Ticen shooting in but leaving his neck out.  Meadows locks up a guillotine but cannot complete the submission after it hits the mat.  Ticen passes to mount but is unable to strike the head due to the novice amateur rules.  The round ends with Ticen in mount.  The judges score it unanimous for Ben Ticen.  Ben Ticen wins a unanimous decision.

Adam Hayden vs Jarad Abdul Hafiz

Adam Hayden vs Jarad Abdul HafizHayden is first to let his hands go but doesn’t land cleanly.  He opts to shoot in and clinch against the cage.  Hayden is able to lock his hands to take Hafiz down before popping up and throwing wild punches to end the round.  Round 2 Hayden comes out finishing where he left off in round 1 by throwing hard punches that connect before changing levels to take Hafiz down.  Hayden locks up an arm triangle from mount but is unable to get his shoulder in position to finish the choke.  Hayden swings for an armbar but cannot extend his hips before the bell.  The last round begins slower than the last before Hayden starts to regain his rhythm  connecting again that dazes Hafiz into the cage where Hayden locks onto a guillotine for the remainder of the round.  The judges score the fight a unanimous decision for Adam Hayden.  Adam Hayden wins a unanimous decision.

 

Patrick Ruby vs Jonathan Neville

Patrick Ruby vs Jonathan NevilleRuby lands a leg kick before slamming Neville to the ground with a double leg takedown.  Neville rolls him but Ruby positions himself for an armbar and finishes it quickly forcing Neville to tap.  Patrick Ruby wins via submission (armbar) at :33 of round 1.

 

Brad Woods vs Brandon Hicks

Hicks is first to land with a hard right that drops Woods to his back.  Woods recovers and gets to his feet but is rocked again and is forced to shoot in for the takedown.  Woods takes the fight to the ground momentarily to regain his composure.  Hicks is able to stand back up but is met with hard punches from Woods.  Hicks’ mouth piece flies out with the second of two hard right hands.  Woods is able to unleash a flurry of right hands to Hicks against the cage to which he cannot defend the ref steps in and calls an end to the fight.  Brad Woods wins by referee stoppage at 2:10 of round 1.

Bryan Zeilinga vs Austin Tweedy

Bryan Zeilinga vs Austin TweedyTweedy sets up with a hard leg kick and shoots in for the takedown soon afterwards.  After completing the takedown Tweedy locks up a guillotine choke, Zeilinga defends for a few moments before being forced to sleep.  Austin Tweedy wins via submission (guillotine) at 1:13 of round 1.

 

Pro Bouts:

Pierce Overton vs. Brandon Becker

Becker opens up looking for a front snap kick but is unable to land on its mark.  Becker snaps Overton into a front headlock position working for a guillotine before cutting the corner and taking the back of Overton.  Becker softens him up with some punches before sinking in the rear naked choke and coaxing the tap.  Brandon Becker wins via submission (rear naked choke) at 1:39 of round 1.

 

Jermaine Thornton vs. Jeremiah Adriano

Jermaine Thornton vs. Jeremiah AdrianoAdriano slips a punch from Thornton and secures a bodylock takedown.  Adriano passes to mount before Thornton is able to scramble to his feet.  Adriano takes Thornton down and presses him into the cage where he is able to pin Thorntons arm to land unblocked punches and elbows.  Adriano lands some unanswered blows and forces the ref to step in.  Jeremiah Adriano wins by referee stoppage at 4:35 of round 1.

 

Cornelius George vs. Vance Swerdan

Cornelius George vs. Vance SwerdanAfter a brief exchange on the feet George is able to secure a takedown.  George is able to pass the open guard of Swerdan and force him to turtle before re-guarding.  George works short punches from half-guard while working to pass.  Swerdan is able to regain his guard before the round ends.  Round 2 begins with Swerdan looking fresh but is unable to get much offense off before George takes him down with a single leg attack.  George works methodically from half guard picking his shots and keeping busy.  George follows Swerdan as he tries to roll out of position and is able to land strikes in each position before ending up in side control and landing elbows before the bell.  Round 3 begins with both fighters looking to catch their second winds before engaging.  They land simultaneously George with an uppercut and Swerdan with a hook before George pressures Swerdan into the cage.  George is successful yet again with a takedown against the cage.  After some inactivity from half guard they are restarted on the feet.  After some checked leg kicks from Swerdan, George closes the distance and works against the cage.  They momentarily separate to trade punches before re-clinching. The fight goes to the judges.  The judges score the fight 30-27 for a unanimous decision for George.  Cornelius George wins via unanimous decision.

 

Ryan McIntosh vs. Justin Ford

McIntosh comes out showing his kicking arsenal but nothing lands cleanly, Ford is able to clinch against the cage and get McIntosh down.  Ford is able to pass into side control and land a few punches before the referee steps in as it appears McIntosh is injured.  Justin Ford wins via verbal submission at 1:17 of round 1.

 

Carson Gainey vs. Casey Dyer

Carson Gainey vs. Casey DyerBoth fighters looking to strike early but neither finding their mark.  Gainey shoots in for a takedown as Dyer pulls guard and the fight goes to the ground.  Dyer works a high guard while utilizing elbows from within guard. Dyer is able to switch his hips over to attempt an armbar but cannot finish the submission.  During the scramble there is an accidental clash of heads that open a cut over Dyers right eye.  The doctor calls a halt to the bout due to the cut.  The fight is ruled a no contest because the cut was due to an accidental headbutt at 3:56 of round 1.  Dyer vs. Gainey is ruled a doctor stoppage/no contest due to accidental headbutt.

 

Jay Ellis vs. Johnny Rees

Jay Ellis vs. Johnny ReesBoth fighters exchange near miss head kicks before Rees engages a clinch after a right cross. Rees takes Ellis to the ground into the cage and unleashes a flurry of punches and elbows that force Ellis to tap due to strikes.  Johnny Rees wins via referee stoppage (tap to strikes) at :48 of round 1.
