Premier Cage Fighting Presents Tuesday Night Fights and Total Warrior Challenge 8
Cagecraze.com was cage side at the Pepsi Coliseum for Budweiser Fight Night Presents: Total Warrior Challenge 8. This was the first installment of Premier Cage Fighting in the traditional Tuesday Night Fights at the Indiana State Fairgounds. The night was filled with action as all the warriors went to battle not leaving a single fight to the judges. In the co-main event, a catchweight bout between two fan favorites Kyle Gibbons and Marvin Lemock (Tay King) proved to be the tough of the tough as they had one of the craziest first rounds we have ever seen. The main event featured two undefeated bantamweights pitting Jeremy Pender vs. Casey Dyer for the 135lb. title that showed skill over will in a tough back and forth fight.
Zach Lefebvre vs. Justin Hazlett
Hazlett begins with a heavy kicking attack but is taken down for his efforts. Lefebrvre is able to work some small shots from side control before both fighters work to their feet where Hazlett is able to land some more hard kicks to the legs and body. Lefebrvre is able to take Hazlett down and works to control the back before losing position and being reversed. Hazlett is able to pass to mount and land a few shots before he is bucked off. Lefebrvre works from the back until Hazlett stands up shortly before Lefebrvre ends the round with a takedown into mount. Round 2 begins with a vicious kick into a spinning back fist by Hazlett that rocks Lefebrvre against the cage but doesn’t take advantage, Lefebrvre is able to come to his senses and knock Hazlett down where he forces the ref to step in after Hazlett is unable to defend intelligently. Zach Lefebrvre wins via tapout to strikes at 1:05 of the second round.
Robert Morrow vs. Robert Thilman
Thilman approaches Morrow, ducks a punch to land a hard right that spends Morrow completely around. Thilman is able to capitalize and take Morrow to the ground against the fence. Morrow takes some shots from guard but is able to throw up an armbar attempt. Thilman illegally knees the head of Morrow and is penalized 1 point. Morrow catches Thilman coming in with a punch and forces him to shoot. Thilman gets the takedown but is greeted by a triangle from Morrow that proves to be the end maker for Thilman. Morrow wins via submission (triangle/armbar) at 3:19 of round 1.
Nick Kraus vs. Tyson Triplett
Kraus comes out and immediately clinches Triplett and works for the takedown. After a brief struggle Kraus is able to get just enough pressure to launch a beautiful lateral drop into side control. From the position he lands a few elbows before he passes eventually into mount. Kraus locks up an arm triangle and moves into side control where he coaxes the tap from Triplett. Nick Kraus wins via submission (arm triangle) at 1:36 in round.
Keenan Curry vs. Dominic Qurazzo
Qurazzo takes the center and throws some hard punches before convincing Curry to take the fight to the ground. Curry does so with a double leg and works from within Qurazzo guard. Curry works from half guard before Qurazzo is able to force the fight to the feet momentarily before being taken down again. They scramble to their feet and start trading blow for blow with Curry getting the better of the exchange and ending the flurry with a takedown to end the round. Round 2 starts with Curry getting in some quick punches before taking the fight to the ground. After a brief stint on the feet Curry gets a good slam against the cage but is reversed. After giving up his back Curry is able to shake Qurazzo off the top and ends up in half guard. Curry is able to cut Qurazzo with a glancing elbow before the end of the round. Dominic Qurazzo is unable to come out for the third round Keenan Curry is awarded the victory.
Zach Harvey vs. Pete Dominguez
Both fighters feel each other out not really landing anything significant. Harvey lands a right hand and Dominguez initiates a clinch but ends up on the bad end taking a few knees to the body. Dominguez initiates a throw but ends up on bottom. Harvey works for a guillotine from inside Dominguez’s guard but is reversed. Dominguez is able to get the back of Harvey and sinks in a vicious rear naked choke which Harvey is unable to defend. Pete Dominguez gets the win via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:34 in round 1.
Josh Beals vs. Andrew Jordan
Beals makes short work of taking Jordan down with an over the shoulder suplex and takes the back. Beals is able to put the hooks in and softens Jordan up with punches but Jordan is able to spin into the guard of Beals. Beals throws his legs over for a tight armbar attempt and bellies down, after a tough fight, Jordan works his head back into guard and has Beals’ back for a moment before Beals spins into the guard for a moment before Jordan can re take the back. Jordan works to a front headlock position and has a tight front choke locked up but is unable to get Beals to tap. Jordan is able to take Beals back in a scramble before the end of the round. Round 2 begins with both fighters planting their feet and swinging for the fences. After Beals takes one too many punches he shoots in for the double leg and gets the takedown. Jordan is able to work to his feet and lands some shots from the clinch before Beals hits a knee tap and takes the fight back to the ground. Jordan locks up a triangle and sweeps Beals into mount and lands punches with the triangle locked up. Beals is able to escape but ends up with Jordan on top landing hard punches he gives up his back but is unable to escape and defend himself. The ref is forced to step in and call an end to the bout. Andrew Jordan wins via ref stoppage 2:13 into round two.
Luke Taylor vs. Mike Pickett
Taylor comes out shooting in for the takedown and gets it to the ground fast. Pickett stays calm and works his way back to the feet where he lands some nice punches and a few kicks before losing his balance and being taking down. Pickett escapes to his feet and where he continues to get the better on the feet but is again taken down by Taylor. Taylor is able to land a flurry from within the guard of Pickett before attempting a rolling foot lock. Pickett is able to stand to his feet and land a few punches but is swept back down with the footlock attempt. The round ends in the leg-lock position battle. Round two begins much like the first with Taylor walking through Pickett’s attacks and getting the takedown. Taylor works some ground and pound with Pickett pressed against the cage. Taylor is eventually able to take the back of Pickett and soften him up with some punches before sinking in the choke and getting the tap. Luke Taylor wins via submission (rear naked choke) at 3:44 in round two.
Chris Fernette vs. Jake Parsley
Parsley lands a one-two, but is met with a nicely timed takedown. Fernette works from half guard with short shots and using heavy shoulder pressure forces Parsley to go unconscious. Fernette gets the win via submission (arm triangle) at 1:08 in the very first round.
Rob Arnett vs. Scott West
Arnett takes the center of the cage, pummels in and locks up a body lock which gets West to the canvas after a brief struggle. Arnett is able to flatten West out and locks up an americana but is unable to get the torque to finish the arm-lock. Arnett is then able to smash and mount West where he lands some strikes before losing position and winding up in side control. From side control Arnett is able to lock up a kimura and gets the leverage that forces West to tap. Rob Arnett wins via submission (kimura) at 3:50 of round one.
Kyle Gibbons vs. Tay King (220lb Super fight)
King clinches early and slams Gibbons to the ground with a monstrous slam. Gibbons is able to get a butterfly hook and sweep King into the fence where they momentarily standup before King takes him back to the ground. Gibbons works a kimura from half guard but is un able to finish the submission. Gibbons is able to sweep King and wind up standing above him and lands some hard shots that rock King for a moment. Gibbons takes advantage of the opportunity and mounts King and transitions to the back but is unable to secure the position and they return to their feet. King gets a takedown for a brief second before they return to their feet. Gibbons is able to catch King again with some hard punches and a head kick but King takes Gibbons down on instinct. Gibbons is able to set up an omaplata but King is able to roll out and they end up in a stalemate on their sides both locking up submission holds. Kyle Gibbons is unable to continue after the first round (injury) and Tay King is awarded the victory.
Casey Dyer vs. Jeremy Pender (135 lb. Title Fight)
Dyer comes out throwing some leg kicks, but is taken down and ends up in half-guard with Pender working for an arm triangle choke. After an elbow to the back of the head from Pender, in which he is warned, they return to their feet. Pender gets the better of the standup exchanges before Dyer clinches and lands a few knees that trigger a takedown attempt from Pender. Dyer works for several guillotine attempts but Pender is able to create space and escape till the end of the round. Round 2 begins with a leg kicking battle that turns to a slugfest with each fighter getting their licks in. Dyer closes the distance and then pulls guard. Pender creates some distance and stands up motioning for Dyer to do the same. They return to their feet for a split second before Pender works in for the takedown and Dyer again goes for the guillotine but still unable to finish. Pender works his way to mount and locks in a mounted triangle and goes to his back, after a brief struggle Pender is able to finish the choke and force Dyer to tap. Jeremy Pender wins via submission (triangle) at 3:08 of the second round and becomes the Premier Cage Fighting 135lb. Champion.
