As far as my predictions go, they stunk. Hence the reason I refer to such things as a Big Board of Wrong.

But I did get the prediction right for Indiana’s own Chris “Lights Out Lytle” in his welterweight match with Matt Brown.

Congratulations to UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar on his submission win over Shane Carwin. Big ups to him and much respect for a complete 180 from his last post-fight interview.

I ripped Lesnar after his less than gracious speech at UFC 100 last year. His words after UFC 116 were the words of a man that knows he’s lucky to be alive, first of all, and those of a man that has been humbled by life and now realizes that he’s lucky to have the life he does.

We should all be so fortunate.

And here’s hoping that those Lesnar vs. Velasquez at UFC 119 in Indy rumors, turn out to be more than rumors.

Chris Leben proved his mettle in a 3-round war against Yoshihiro Akiyama and then found a way to win in the third with a triangle choke.

Not sure calling out Wanderlei Silva is the best idea. But if they get “The Crippler” (Leben) and “The Axe Murderer” as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter, I sense a USA vs Brazil theme might be in the works.

Stephan Bonnar, by my estimation, saved his job in the UFC.

George Sotiropoulos earned his way onto the short list of serious contenders for the UFC Lightweight title.

Gerald Harris had one of the best knockouts by way of bodyslam that I’ve ever seen.

Overall, UFC 116 was one of the best cards from top to bottom that any mixed martial arts promotion has ever put on and was worth the price of the pay per view.

Until Next Time
