Cagecraze.com is on site to cover tonight’s XFO 42 event in the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
11 professional bouts are scheduled with Heavyweights Miodrag Petkovich an Mike Marrello set for battle in the evening’s main event. The co-main event pits undefeated Jake Grigson against Danny Aguirre.
Eight amateur bouts serve as the appetizer, with XFO handing out three Amateur Title’s in the bantamweight, flyweight, and featherweight divisions.
Robert Couillard vs. Anthony Goodwin
They’re tentative to engage on the feet. Goodwin secures a powerful takedown. They stand and Couillard looks for a big high kick. Couillard with an explosive knees to the face. Goodwin’s out cold, but Couillard follows him to the mat with a strike to the face for good measure. The referee rips him off. Spectacular finish. Couillard dances in the center of the ring, while Goodwin is still down for the count.

Johnny Coleman vs. Chris Haney
Coleman looks for a single. Coleman lifts Haney off his feet for a big slam as Haney looks for a guillotine. Haney in position though, and gains transitions from north south, to side contol before finally securing full mount. Coleman rolls, giving up his back and Haney rains down punches like it’s monsoon season. Coleman looks helpless and taps from strikes.
Chris Haney defeats Johnny Coleman via Tapout (strikes). Round 1, 2:25.
Guillermo Serment vs. Vince Ramos
A kick by Serment to start. Ramos shoots for a takedown. They scramble and clinch on the cage. Ramos looks for an ankle, and ends up in Serments full guard. Another scramble and Ramos sits against the cage looking for a RNC, but Serment turns and stands looking for a guilltonine. A slow first round.
Serment stuffs a takedown to start the second. The clinch continues and they lock at the fence. Serment with elbows to Ramos’s body. Ramos scores a big takedown and dumps Serment on his back. They’re locked in a stalemate against the cage. Serment now in half guard, uses elbows and short punches to Serment’s face and body.
Serment looks to open things up on the feet with kicks and punches, Ramos shoots for a takedown but is stuffed. They clinch against the cage again. Elbows to the body score for Serment. Serment staying busy, scoring with punches to the body in a clinchfest. They both look gassed.

Ed Blake vs. Matt Tobie 185lb
Low kicks early from Blake. Tobie secures a takedown and looks for mount but seems content with half gard. Tobie looks for guilltone, but loses position. Blake in mount. Bad spot for Tobie as Blake unloads elbows. Tobie scrambles out and the pair starts to throw bombs. They clinch again. Big knee to the body lands for Blake. They hit the mat and Blake looks for an armbar. He lands a few big shots as the round closes.
Leg kick to open for Blake and he follows it up with a punch. The punch knocks Tobie down. Blake storms, but cant land anything of significance, and allows Matt to work it back to his Blake secures a trip and they land in the center of the cage. Tobie with a nice sweep, escaping from underneath. Blake with a big takedown into side control. He lands four knees to the body as the round closes.
The fighters engage with a flurry of strikes, but everything whiffs. Blake scores a takedown into the cage, but Tobie works to his feet. Blake looking for a takedown while Tobie threatens with a choke. They hit the mat with Tobie in top position. A few punches set up his mount and he has Blake pinned against the cage. Tobie is pounding away on Blake’s face. It’s close to being stopped. Blake somehow manages to survive, but Tobie gets his back and delivers three malicious elbows to Blake’s forehead. Tobie shows immense heart with a huge comeback after being dropped in the previous round. But it’s not enough.

Brandon Wood vs. Joey Diehl
Flyweight Joey ‘The Real’ Diehl is getting the better of the standup. Diehl lands a big punch. Wood is hurt. Diehl relentless with strikes against the cage. Referee stoppage for the Team Curran fighter.

Danny Rodriguez vs. Adam Ward
Clay Guida comes out in Ward’s corner. Ward with crisp punches while Rodriguez looks to land a haymaker. Ward lands a crisp straight and Rodriguez answers with one of his own. Ward lands a powerful high kick to the face. Rodriguez in serious trouble as Ward storms into his guard. The fight finds its way back the feet and Ward drops him with a huge punch again. Ward follows Rodriguez to the mat and the ref is forced to call the fight. Impressive performance by Ward.

Darren Jacoby vs. Kent Rexford
Jacoby with a quick jab to Kents face. Both fighters feint in the center of the cage. Kent lands a left hook and they trade leg kicks. Kent looking more aggressive with his standup. They clinch against the cage, and trade punches. Jacoby lands a right hand that knocks Kent down. Jacoby secures Kent’s back but the pace has slowed. They stand and Darren shrugs off a takedown. He unloads a right that clips Kent on the chin. Kent’s done. KO.

Lloyd Carter vs. Carson Beebe
Both fighters swinging like its a home run derby. Beebe secures a takedown and lands punches from half guard. Beebe gets Carter’s back. Not looking good for Carter. They roll, but Beebe stays glued to Carter’s back with a body lock. Beebe looks to have a RNC but Carter escapes.
They trade punches to start, but not as reckless as the first. They clinch and Beebe gets a huge slam. Now standing, Carter looks for a guillotine, he pulls guard. Beebe escapes, and Carter throws triangles from north south position.
Beebe immediately goes for clinch. Carter circles out and taunts Beebe to throw with him. Carter lands a punch and Beebe immediately takes him down. Beebe looks for a kimura. Beebe takes Carters back and drops elbows from top. Carter can’t escape. Beebe throws suplex to finish an otherwise slow fight.
Carson Beebe defeats Lloyd Carter via Unanimous Decision.
Brandon Adamson vs. Kevin Knabjian (kevins first fight at 155)
They swing for the fences to start. Adamson misses on a huge roundhouse kick as Knabjian ducks under and scores a takedown. Knabjian gets Adamson’s back and crashes down punches from behind. He’s relentless. Knabjian steps over and secures a kimura. Quick tap by Adamson.
Kevin Knabjin defeats Adamsom via Kimura. Round 1, 1:44.
Co-Main Event:
Jake Grigson vs. Danny Aguirre
Grigson storms out and secures a big takedown. They stand and Aguirre lands a big knee and looping right hand. Aguirre, in north south position on Grigson’s back, looks for an inverted triangle. There’s nothing the their. The two battle for position on the mat.
The fighters swing wildly to open. Grigson catches a kick and they go to the mat. Aguirre scores elbows from the bottom. More elbows. Aguirre looks for a triangle and switches for an armbar. He sinks it in. Grigson taps. Nice work by Aguirre from the bottom.

Main Event:
Miodrag Petkovich vs. Mike Marrello
Marello enters the cage and looks to be the much bigger fighter. Petkovich wants to stand and trade, but Marello forces a clinch against the cage. After a referee break, they throw, but nothing lands. Leg kick by Petkovich as Marello clips with him a grazing right hand, but both fighters look tentative to engage. 10-9 Marello.
A touch of gloves. Petkovich lunges with punches but comes up empty. They both trade but nothing of significance lands. Petkovich throws a big leg kick and straight right. Marello looks dazed and retreats as Petkovich follows him to the cage into the clinch. The pace slows and the crowd shows their frustration with the lack of action. 10-9 Petkovich.
Marrello pushes Petkovich into the cage to start the round. Petkovich looks to the referee for a break. He finally gets it.
Petkovich drops Marello with a left and follows him to the mate with punches. Marello is dazed but manages to get back on his feet as he clings on. They break and Petkovich stalks him. They flurry with strikes as the round ends. 10-9 Petkovich.
